Modern Nostalgia and the Return of Instant Photography

Seriously! How fun it is to go back to the old "point, shoot, print"? Honestly? Damn fun! No need for technology. No need for fancy apps or photoshop or anything that will, stupidly, manipulate reality! Here I am. Reading the manual (fortunately really short!) and trying out some of the (few) features of my new Instax Mini! It feels so good to be able to enjoy the process. To enjoy the unpredictabilty of the result(s). I remember the old Polaroid that was bought in the 80's. I was a kid but I still remember the sound of the picture coming out from the machine. Until dry you had no idea what the final

result would be! I thought it would be a great revival to take out the old machine and compare the pictures with the newly bought Fuji Instax. Went crazy searching online to buy some film but Polaroid stopped its production. I will keep the old piece next to my typewriters collection. My nostalgia for typewriters and cameras is visceral. To be honest I am quite attached to all simple and "touchable" things although some, like the typewriter, I am no longer using. I still read paper book and refuse to go digital. I am still the one who prefers spontaneous things instead of using doodle or whatsapp delirious groups to organize a dinner or to go for a coffee. If I have to waste my time on technology just to drink an espresso in "good" company I rather prefer to go drink it by myself!

So now I am here. With my new camera. With packs of instant film. And with so many ideas that my brain is smoking!

I'll start a new project (that I am already working on) called "Color Palette of the Everyday". Look around, point, shoot, and whatever comes out comes out! Each photo will then be used as a starting point for a story. The story of my everyday.

This is finally what will hopefully bring back my creative flow. This will finally be what I needed in a long time. It took a medical natural remedy cure for my (mental) health and an instant camera to awaken my soul!
